Introduction

Surprise!
You've been selected to be a contestant on the next Survivor
series! Pack your bags- oops, there is nothing to put
in them! Your location is the Arctic Circle. Oh, and you're
the only contestant!
The
Task

In
order to survive you must complete 3 challenges. When
completed you will be allowed to push the button that turns
on the Northern Lights, showing you the way home. The
challenges include:
- Creating
an in depth presentation on an Arctic Animal using Power
Point
- Making
a choice of getting to know the Inuit, the whaling
industry,or facts about scurvy, and writing a mini
report.
- Finally,
Hollywood is watching for the best survival story that
includes an animal connection which you will write.

- The
Process

- You
will make a Survivor folder out of construction paper/
Decorate the cover
- Inside
you will place the 3 rubrics for the 3 projects (see
teacher for rubrics)
- Project
#1 - Create an Arctic Animal Presentation
- The
finished product will be put on poster
board
- Use
the following links (buttons) to choose & research
one animal. Take notes, save pictures to your file or
print out.
 
- Use
the rubric to check off requirements
- Place
information and pictures on poster board in an attractive
way.
- Congratulations!
You have survived Step 1!
- Project
#2 - Mini report
- Choose
from the following topics:
- History
& culture of the Inuit

- The
Whaling Industry
 
- Sled
dog information
 
- Scurvy,
the disease
 
- 1
page report (include at least 5 facts) with 1 graphic
minimum (place in folder)
- Use
your rubric to check off requirements
- Now here's the
survivor part! You will use your information in a class
debate as to which area impacted or influenced the Arctic
the most - If you dare!
- Project #3 -
Survivor Short Story
- Write a 3 page
minimum short story
- The story will be
about survival
- It will include 1
animal that is involved in saving you.
- The following
links will give you some ideas on fantastic
animals.
 
- The setting is not
limited to the Arctic!
- Review the Rubric
and place story in folder.
- Congratulations,
you have survived!
- Now click on the
