Materials: 3 glasses, can of Coke, 3 pennies, measuring cup, #1, #2, and #3 stickers

Experiment:

Variables
Controlled (or what stays the same):

e. approximately same amount of dirt of coins

Manipulated (what is changed)
a. time penny sits in Coke

Procedures:
1. Mark one glass with a #1 sticker, one with a #2, and one with a #3.
2. Pour 1/4 cup Coke into each of 3 glasses.
3. Carefully place a penny in each glass.
4. Leave the penny in glass #1 for 1 hour.
5. Remove the penny. Look at condition of penny and dirt left in glass.
6. Record results.

7. Leave the penny in glass #2 for 5 hours.
8. Remove the penny. Look at condition of penny and dirt left in glass.
9. Record results.

10. Leave the penny in glass #3overnight.
