Speech, Drama, and Debate |

Introduction to Drama |
Course content includes an overview of the history and development of the theater, reading plays, and analyzing plays. The student also studies all aspects of production: writing make-up, costuming, lighting, properties, set design and construction, and ACTING. Drama students are required to be a part of the school production in some capacity, either technical or performance. This class is not generally accepted as a core English class by post-secondary schools. |
Advanced Drama 1 credit Elective with Prerequistie of Drama and Teacher Reccomendation |
Course content includes reading and analyzing for plays for the purpose of character portrayal, set design, and lighting deisgn. The students also study carious directing styles and techniques and directs the Intro. to Drama students into a short scene. The student serves in a leadership capacity for the main stage plays and/or the musical theatre scenes: stage manager, assistant stage manager, student director, construction foreman or lighting foreman. Admittance to the class is not generally accepted as a core English course by post secondary schools. |

Debate One 1 credit Elective |
A beginning course in argumentation organization, research techniques, current events, and philosophy. The course includes practice debates and requires the student to participate in interscholastic tournaments. This class is not generally accepted as a core English course by a post-secondary school. |
| Debate Two
1 credit Elective with Prerequisite of Debate One passed with a C or higher |
Advanced debate theory and argumentation techniques are covered. Students compete in class as well as in interscholastic tournaments. Emphasis is on values debate and Student Congress. This class is not generally accepted as a core English course by a post-secondary school. |

Debate Three and Four 1 credit Elective |
Advanced philosophical theory, reputation and rebuttal techniques, and cross examination skills are covered. Research and development or skills are emphasized. Students will compete in class as well as in interscholastic tournaments. Admittance to this class is based on space availability and teachers reccomendation. This class is not generally accepted as a core English course by a post-secondary school. |
Forensics
1 credit Elective |
Emphasis is on the individual speech events, such as improptu, extemporaneous, oratory, and oral interpretation. The student will participate in interscholastic competition. This class is not generally accepted as a core English course by post-secondary schools. |
Advanced Forensics 1 credit Elective with Prerequisite of Forensics |
The student will be expected to complete individual forensics projects and participate in interscholastic competition. This class is not generally accepted as a core English course by post-secondary schools. |
