AMS BELIEF STATEMENTS
• Middle level students have their own unique needs.
• Students have the right to learn.
• Students are responsible for their learning and behavior.
• The learning environment must be safe, secure, and caring.
• The school must maintain high standards of academic and behavioral expectations.
• The expectations must be communicated and taught to the students. The expectations must be clear, consistent, and attainable.
• The school climate should promote respect, dignity, and honesty.
• Education is a shared responsibility among parents, students, teachers, and community.
• Core academic and Related Arts classes are the primary focus of the middle level program.
• A variety of learning activities and opportunities increases student achievement, and promotes positive relationships between students and educators.
AMS BUILDING GOAL
Goal: Teachers will continue to develop, support, implement, and assess learning activities that support the district focus of student achievement. Emphasis will be placed on meeting the student achievement goals of the Atlantic School District in reading, math, and science. In addition AMS will strive to meet specific building lebel student achievement goals in reading, math, and science. Also, AMS will strive for improvement in the areas of respect for all and bullying/harassment issues.
