Long-Range Goals with Indicators

Fall 2004-Spring 2009

 

Goal 1:      All K-12 students will achieve at high levels in reading.

The following indicators will measure district progress with Goal 1:

1a.      Percentage of students who score at the proficient level or above (41st percentile or above using national norms) on the ITBS Reading Comprehension Test in grades 2 through 8 and the ITED Reading Comprehension Test in grades 9, 11, including data disaggregated by subgroup.

 

            1b.      Number of grade levels who achieve expected growth on NWEA reading from fall to spring.

Percentage of students (grades 3-6) who achieve expected (typical) growth on NWEA/MAP reading assessment from fall to spring. Growth targets are based on NWEA Fall-Spring block norms.        

 

1c.       Reduction of the percent of third grade students in the at-risk category of DIBELS reading fluency from spring to spring.

 

1d.      Percentage of students who score in top three quartiles on the Reading portion of the PLAN TEST (grade 10).

 

Goal 2:      All K-12 students will achieve at high levels in mathematics.

The following indicators will measure district progress with Goal 2:

2a.      Percentage of students who score at the proficient level or above (41st percentile or above using national norms) on the ITBS Mathematics Test in grades 2 through 8 and the ITED Mathematics Test in grades 9, 11, including data disaggregated by subgroup.

 

2b.      Number of grade levels who achieve expected growth on NWEA math from fall to spring.

Percentage of students (grades 3-8) who achieve expected  (typical) growth target on NWEA math from fall to spring. Growth targets are based on NWEA Fall-Spring block norms.

                       

            2c.       Net gain in total math on CBMÕs from previous year (1-5).

 

2d.      Percentage of students who score in top three quartiles on the Math portion of the PLAN TEST (grade 10).

                 

Goal 3:      All K-12 students will achieve at high levels in science.

The following indicators will measure district progress with Goal 3:

3a.      Percentage of students who score at the proficient level or above (41st percentile or above using national norms) on the ITBS Science Test in grades 2 through 8 and the ITED Science Test in grades 9, 11, including data disaggregated by subgroup.

 

            3b.      The number of grade level who achieve expected growth       

                        from fall to fall and spring to spring. 

The percentage of students (grades 3-8) who achieve expected (typical) growth target on NWEA/MAP science assessment from fall to fall on concepts and processes and spring to spring on science content.

 

3c.       Percentage of students who score in top three quartiles on the Science portion of the PLAN TEST (grade 10).

 

Goal 4:      All K-12 students will integrate technology into theirlearning (reading, math, and science).

The following indicators will measure district progress with Goal 4:

4a.      Teacher logs of technology usage/student products.

 

            4b.      Locally developed student technology assessment (to be developed in 2004).

        

Goal 5:      All students will feel safe at and connected to school.

The following indicators will measure district progress with Goal 5:

5a.      Attendance rate as measured by the average daily attendance data calculated and reported on the Certified Annual Report (CAR).

 

5b.      Graduation rate and dropout rates as calculated by the Iowa Department of Education using data from the spring BEDS report.

 

5c.       Percentage of student body in elementary, middle, and high school that receives any discipline referrals (i.e., office referrals, suspensions, counseling sessions, and expulsions).

 

5d.      Percentage of students who feel safe at school according to the CREST survey (6-12).

 

            5e.      Number of bullying and harassment reports by buildings.

 

5f.        Percent of positive responses from students on the Iowa Youth Survey (grades 6, 8, 11) and other related surveys.
