Annual Improvement Goals for 2006-2007

in reading

Students in the Atlantic Community Schools will show improvement in reading as evidenced by at least one of the following indicators:

•The percent of 4th grade full academic year students scoring above the 40th NPR on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills in reading comprehension will increase from 70.2% proficient in accordance with the Iowa Accountability established trajectories in reading.

•The percent of 8th grade full academic year students scoring above the 40th NPR on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills in reading comprehension will increase from 66.5% proficient in accordance with the Iowa Accountability established trajectories in reading.

•The percent of 11th grade full academic year students scoring above the 40th NPR on the Iowa Tests of Educational Development in reading will     increase from 82.2% proficient in accordance with the Iowa Accountability established trajectory in reading.

•At least five grade levels 3-8 will make their expected mean RIT growth in reading from fall 2006 to spring 2007.

•5 out of 7 classes (2-9) will make at least a year's growth (1.0 NGE) on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills in reading comprehension from the fall 2005 to fall 2006.

•The percent of at-risk students at two grade levels (1st - 5th) on the DIBELS Oral Reading Fluency subtest will decrease from fall to spring.

•Percentage of students (grades 3-8) who achieve expected (typical) growth on NWEA/MAP reading assessment from fall to spring will increase in 5 out of the 6 grade levels from the 2005-2006 testing.

•More than 93% of 2006-2007 sophomores will score in the upper three quartiles nationally on the PLAN in reading.

in math

Students in the Atlantic Community Schools will show improvement in mathematics as evidenced by at least one of the following indicators:

•The percent of 4th grade full academic year students scoring above the 40th NPR on the math total portion of the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills will increase from 69.2% proficient in accordance with the Iowa Accountability established trajectories in mathematics.

•The percent of 8th grade full academic year students scoring above the 40th NPR on the math total portion of the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills will increase from 77.8% proficient in accordance with the Iowa Accountability established trajectories in mathematics.

•The percent of 11th grade full academic year students scoring above the 40th NPR on the Iowa Tests of Educational Development in quantitative thinking will increase from 77.3% proficient in accordance with the Iowa Accountability established trajectory in mathematics.

•6 out of 7 classes (2-9) will make at least a year's growth (1.0 NGE) on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills on the math total from the fall 2005 to fall 2006.

•3 out of the 5 grades (1st through 5th) will increase their spring mean total from the year before on the math CBM's .

•At least five grade levels 3-8 will make their expected RIT growth in mathematics from fall 2006 to spring 2007.

•Percentage of students (grades 3-8) who achieve expected (typical) growth on NWEA/MAP mathematics assessment from fall to spring will increase in 5 out of the 6 grade levels from the 2005-2006 testing.

•More than 94% of 2006-2007 sophomores will score in the upper three quartiles nationally on the PLAN in mathematics.

in science

Students in the Atlantic Community Schools will show improved science as evidenced by at least one of the following indicators:

•There will be an increase in the percentage of students in grades 8 and 11 who score above the 40th NPR in science, as measured by the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills / Iowa Tests of Educational Development.

•There will be a net increase demonstrated on national standard scores for grades 2-9, and 11 in science scores as measured by the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills / Iowa Tests of Educational Development.

•6 out of 7 classes (2-9) will make at least a year's growth (1.0 NGE) on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills in science from the fall 2004 to fall 2005.      

•More than 93% of 2006-2007 sophomores will score in the upper three quartiles nationally on the PLAN in science.

•The average NPR of students in grades 2-9, and 11 will increase from 64.1 NPR as evidenced by the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills and the Iowa Tests of Educational Development.
