Where is the Cass County Conservation Board (CCCB) office located?
The Conservation Board office is located on the third floor of the county courthouse in Atlantic, Iowa.

Are your campsites open year round?
No, they close in the late fall and open again in early spring.

Can I reserve a campsite in any of the campgrounds?
No, campsites are first come first serve. Reservations are not made for any campsite.

What are your camping rates?
$12.00 for electricity/night ($1.00 extra per air conditioner unit)
$10.00 nonelectric/night


How do I reserve shelters?
The CCCB has two shelters that can be reserved. To reserve the shelter at Cold Springs, call 712-769-2372. To reserve the shelter at Cocklin Fish Farm call 712-778-2408.

Where do the Trumpeter Swans go when they leave Atlantic in the spring?
They return north to nest. Most nest at Union Slough, near Algona, Iowa, others go to Minnesota or even Wisconsin.

Will Trumpeter Swans ever nest at the Quarry?
Trumpeter Swans need wetlands for natural nesting. Wetlands provide the appropriate aquatic vegetation and water insects that the cygnets (young) need to survive. Cygnets will not eat corn or bread as they will when they are older.

What are the hunting and fishing seasons for this year?
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is responsible for establishing hunting, fishing, and trapping seasons as well as wildlife-related law enforcement. Fishing and hunting information may be found at: www.iowadnr.com/law/regs.html

I think someone is breaking a hunting law, who do I call?
TIP (Turn in Poachers) hotline is 1-800-532-2020. Your local DNR Conservation Officer is Eric Sansgaard. Eric can be reached at 712-250-0303.

Who offers the Hunter Safety Courses?
The hunter safety course is required for anyone born after January 1, 1972, in order to obtain a hunting license. Anyone age 11 and over may enroll in the course, but certification does not become valid until the individual's 12th birthday if they are 11. For statewide information on class dates and locations, you can look online at: www.iowadnr.com.law/lawdb/viewcourse.html. In Cass County, classes are offered by various wildlife groups.

Where can I buy a hunting/fishing license?
Alco, Cappels, Hy-Vee, Pamida, Recorder's Office in the Courthouse or Walmart.
