English Language Learners
A World of Living and Learning

Atlantic Community School District now has an ELL department. It is our goal to meet the needs of each of our ELL students and their families by utilizing the most up-to-date technology, in conjunction with caring, understanding and encouragement from our faculty, staff and student body. This enables us to integrate both our curriculum and communication in a way that enhances each student’s learning experience, while adapting to the individual needs of each student.

Within our ELL department, we utilize the following technology and learning tools:

*
In-Class computer translation
*
ELL software, such as The Rosetta Stone Language Learning System
*
Voice Recognition of teaching lectures (to increase comprehension of core curriculum)
*
The Princeton Review (assessment, instructional support and student tools)
*
Keyboarding (to enable better use of computer educational tools)
*
On-line games, tutorials and quizzes (see our list below for suggested sites)
*
The Oxford Picture Dictionary Series
*
AEA Learning Tools and assistance
*
Hands-on activities
*
Field trips

If you have questions, comments or suggestions for our ELL department, please email our ELL Paraprofessional, Jennifer Hartwig.
