• MATH  Our curriculum includes addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, data collection and interpretation, measurement and geometry, and an introduction to the world of fractions.

• READING  A wide variety of materials are used in the eight reading classrooms. The Houghton/Mifflin textbook titled IMAGINE and trade books are used to teach reading skills and develop a life-long love of reading. Trade books used include Stone Fox, Sarah Plain and Tall, and The Last Safe House.
  
• WRITING  Schuler 4th graders will focus writing using Strategies for Writers, their new writing curriculum. Writing projects will include narrative, descriptive, expository, and persuasive writing. 

• SCIENCE  Science is everywhere in our lives. Schuler 4th graders study animals and plants, electricity, weather, and the human nervous system.

• SOCIAL STUDIES  The year begins with map skills followed by study of U.S. regions. These regions include New England, Mid-Atlantic, Upper South, Lower South, Great Lakes, Plains, Southwest, Mountain West, and Pacific West.

• TECHNOLOGY  All Schuler 4th graders are introduced to keyboarding skills during a seven-week mini-course. They also use the Schuler computer lab, equipped with 50 iMacs, to research topics on the Internet and reinforce math and reading skills using various software.
